modeling

ProMagix™ HD80

If your workflow consists mainly of using 3DS MAX for modeling applications like extruding polygons and building out meshes or 3D animation, we recommend focusing on a system with a higher core speed such as the options on our ProMagix HD80.

rendering

ProMagix™ HD150

Rendering out your creation using accurate shadows and light is one of the most hardware intensive applications for any workstation. Our Threadripper PRO HD150 is robust enough to handle the task.

3ds Max FAQ

How well does 3ds Max us CPU threads?

That answer depends mainly on how you use the software. If you’re primarily modeling in 2D, 3ds Max is lightly threaded at best, meaning core speed trumps count. But if animation or rendering are a part of your workflow, the more cores the better.

Does 3ds Max need ECC RAM?

ECC – or error correcting RAM – is not something that 3ds Max specifically requires. But for complex renders or systems with 256+ GB total RAM, ECC may provide some additional stability to your workstation build.

Why is Cooling Important?

The faster the PC hardware, the more heat it generates. Dissipating that heat properly is the key to a stable, long-lasting workstation. Velocity Micro’s 25 years’ experience has allowed us to innovate case design and CPU coolers to keep your workstation as fast and cool as possible.

Quadro or Geforce graphics – which is best?

In most instances, Geforce cards will perform just as well or better than Quadro using 3ds Max. However, Autodesk only officially qualifies and supports Quadro, so it's the safer choice. Check out this blog post for more details.
